Like the tealight holders, this in the hoop wall pocket design was born of necessity a few years ago – keeping items out of canine reach! I created several different sets of wall pockets – for the office, the kitchen, and this one, which I hang behind my sofa. It holds hand cream, nail cream, manicure implements, a post-it pad, and a pen - so if I am watching TV with dry skin and a hangnail and need to quickly jot down an idea, I am all prepared!
The pockets are very easy to make: each one is created in a single hooping with no additional hand or machine stitching. I like to use pleather, vinyl or suede/microsuede for the back and quilters cotton for the pocket. These pockets work best with a thick firm interfacing such as Peltex 72 or Dritz Inner Fuse, but fusible batting/fleece combined with regular thin stiff fusible interfacing will work as well.
This set contains 3 different pockets: one top, one middle and one bottom, that can be used individually, or combined to make hangings of two, three, or more pockets. You can also add any 3”x4” design from your own collection to the front of the pocket part to personalize it; or perhaps your children’s names so they can each have their own pocket. And best of all, the pockets do not sag – they stay firm and flat!
Each completed pocket has between 7,700 and 10,700 stitches and measures 5.4” (13.6 cm) wide by 7.7” (19.5 cm) tall.
Please note these are machine embroidery in the hoop (ITH) designs, not sewing patterns, and they can only be used with an embroidery machine.
