Chic Sachets

Bring some lovely scents into your life with these pretty sachets!  Make them modern with bright fabrics or go traditional with tea-stained fabric and lace, or anything else you can dream up - you can even add a little hanging charm or pearl on the front.

Each sachet is made entirely in the hoop, in one hooping, with 5 color stops and less than 3,000 stitches, and each one takes less than 15 minutes to complete.  When it is finished stitching, cut it out, turn it right side out, fill it with scent, tie it up and it's ready to go.  You can also open them back up to freshen up the scents.

I used regular quilters-weight cotton for the bottom, back and lining and inexpensive transparent organza for the front - the 6" rolls in the wedding section of craft stores works great (I originally purchased a lovely silk organza, but it was not transparent so it didn't work well).  The little tabs at the top are made with cork, marine vinyl, or felt.  For the blank pouches with a lace accent across the front, 1/2" lace or trim works best.  And for the ties (which are added during the stitching so they are secure), you can use just about any thin flexible string: tiny ribbon, twine, fancy yarn, thin leather strips, cord, embroidery floss...etc.  The interior of the pouch is lined so there are no raw edges to interfere with the pretty lavender inside.

You can fill them with dried lavender, scented sachet sand, rice scented with essential oils, or frankincense rocks (which don't really smell strong unless they are burned - but the pouch makes a nice carrier for them).

There are 10 files included - five with different designs embroidered on the front (birdcage, bee, dragonfly, hummingbird, lotus flower) and five different blank shapes so you can feature pretty pieces of fabric and lace.  Four of the files fit the 4x4 hoop (3.9"/10 cm tall) and eight fit the 5x7 (or 5x5) hoop (4.7"/12 cm tall).

Please note these are machine embroidery in the hoop (ITH) designs, not sewing patterns, and they can only be used with an embroidery machine.  Some of these designs use purchased licensed clipart.
